Overview

LC Sign manufactured 6,000 sets of customized commercial lightboxes across desktop and wall-mounted formats for a major East African telecom brand, delivering standardized optics, strict sample-first quality validation, and exact compliance with complex client packaging requirements.

Context

Ethio Telecom required a large-scale manufacturing run of commercial lightboxes to unify brand presentation across its service centers and retail points throughout Ethiopia. The project required high manufacturing consistency across four distinct product specifications, all delivered under strict quality standards and demanding shipment timelines.

Challenges

Executing this project involved addressing three main technical and logistical challenges:

High-Volume Capacity Under Tight Timelines: Producing 6,000 high-quality lightbox units within an aggressive one-month production window.
Complex Mixed-Packaging Logistics: Strictly following intricate packaging instructions across four sub-orders—including combining specific quantities of different lightbox models into shared wooden crates alongside separate crate packing for other formats.
Multi-Format Quality Consistency: Maintaining strict optical diffusion, frame finishing, and electrical compliance across desktop and wall-mounted formats.

Process

Phase 1 – Sampling & Specification Locking

To establish the technical baseline, LC Sign first produced physical samples for initial review and verification. Following strict quality evaluations for LED brightness, frame assembly, and packaging durability, the client approved the samples, locking in the precise engineering specifications for full-scale mass production.

Phase 2 – Accelerated Mass Production

Upon sample sign-off, manufacturing scaled rapidly to execute the 6,000-unit scope across four distinct product variants:

A4 Wi-Fi Double-Sided Desktop Lightbox (100 sets): Silver aluminum frame featuring double-sided illumination, equipped with integrated Wi-Fi circuitry and USB power cable.
A4 Non-Wi-Fi Double-Sided Desktop Lightbox (1,900 sets): Silver aluminum frame featuring double-sided illumination and USB power cable.
A3 Ultra-Slim Wall-Mounted Lightbox (2,000 sets): Black aluminum frame with EU-standard power adapter for wall mounting.
A2 Ultra-Slim Wall-Mounted Lightbox (2,000 sets): Black aluminum frame with EU-standard power adapter for main service halls.

Quality control protocols focused on optical uniformity, scratch-free frame anodizing/coating, and European electrical compliance across all production lines.

Phase 3 – Mixed Packaging & Export Crating

To protect the optical components and comply with the client's strict freight requirements, every unit was packed with high-density EPE pearl cotton and individual inner boxes. LC Sign then executed the client's specific consolidation and crating instructions:

Mixed-Format Crating: Combined 20 units of the A4 Wi-Fi desktop lightbox (Order -1) with 60 units of the A4 non-Wi-Fi desktop lightbox (Order -2) into consolidated 80-unit wooden crates as requested.
Dedicated Format Crating: Packed the A3 (Order -3) and A2 (Order -4) ultra-slim units into separate wooden crates at 40 units per crate.

All crates were reinforced with palletized bases for safe forklift handling during international shipping.

Outcome

Full-Scale 6,000-Unit Batch Delivery: Successfully manufactured, inspected, and shipped all 6,000 lightboxes within the scheduled one-month window.
Zero-Mistake Packaging Execution: Fully complied with complex mixed-format crating instructions, enabling streamlined distribution upon arrival in Ethiopia.
